BENGALURU: Amid the medical investigation launched by the state government into the spate of deaths due to heart attack in Hassan district, four more deaths were reported in one day, taking the toll to 32 in a span of 43 days. Deaths due to heart attack were reported from other parts of the state too.
In Hassan, Sampath Kumar (53), a resident of Karigowda Colony, experience chest pain on Tuesday and was rushed to HIMS, but he did not respond to treatment. C B Virupaksha (70), a resident of Chikkanayakanahalli in Sakleshpur taluk experienced chest pain around 11.30 pm on Wednesday and was rushed to Crawford Hospital in Sakleshpur, but he died enroute.
Santosh (41), a member of the Karagodu gram panchayat and resident of Kallare village in Alur taluk, died in his sleep after suffering cardiac arrest at home. His family members rushed him to a private hospital in Hassan on Thursday morning, but was declared brought dead.
Devamma (72), a resident of Arekere village in Sakleshpur taluk, experienced chest pain and was rushed to Jayadeva Hospital in Bengaluru. However, despite treatment and medication, she died on the way back home.
Elsewhere in the state, Harish, (29), a coconut trader, died on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack at Shivani village in Tarikere taluk. Around 2.30 am, Harish threw up and his family, assuming that it was gas, gave him medicines and he slept again. However, he threw up agaisnt in the afternoon and collapsed.
A private bus driver suffered a heart attack while driving the vehicle near Madhuvamahalli in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district. Ramesh (47), a resident of Meenyam in Hanur taluk, experienced chest pain and was rushed to the Kollegal hospital in an autorickshaw where he was administered preliminary treatment.
After he recovered a bit, he returned to the bus stand and was consuming juice when he collapsed. He was rushed to a hospital, but died enroute.
Businessman Veerabhadrappa (56), a resident of Holalkere in Chitradurga district, was rushed to the Jayadeva Hospital in Bengaluru after experiencing chest pain on Wednesday. However, he did not respond to treatment and died.
Jayappa (44), a farmer and painting worker, was working near the Ram & Co. Circle in Davanagere when he experienced chest pain. He was first taken to a nearby hospital and then shifted to the Bapuji Hospital where he was admitted to the ICU, but did not respond to treatment. He was a resident of Igoor Gollarahatti in Davanagere taluk.
In Aland taluk of Kalaburagi district, Santosh Indi (35), a resident of Linganawadi village, collapsed while working on the fields. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died enroute. In Mysuru, B N Sridhar (51), a resident of Gokulam, suffered a heart attack while working out on a treadmill at a gym 10 days ago. He was working as an engineer in Mysuru and hailed from Junjanahalli in Holenarsipur taluk of Hassan district.
