BELAGAVI : Sri Rama Sene activists were tied to a coconut tree and brutally assaulted by cattle traders at Ingali village in Hukkeri taluk of Belagavi district for preventing them from illegal cattle transportation.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the four-five activists being assaulting with sticks while being tied to a tree in Yamakanamardi police limits with local residents surrounding them.
Sri Rama Sene’s district president Vittal Gaddi has condemned the incident and accused the state government of being indifferent to the issue. He stated that the government in power is not a Siddaramaiah government, but a “Khan government”. Gaddi alleged that when the activists approached the police to file a complaint, they were threatened with false rape charges.
Vittal demanded that the perpetrators be punished according to the law. Gaddi alleged that the government is not for protecting Hindu activists and it is acting in favour of the minor community.
He warned that if proper action is not taken, the organisation will launch a statewide protest. “If the law is not properly implemented, we will fight across the state”, he said and demanded justice for the activists who were brutally assaulted.
