KALABURAGI: A KKRTC conductor of a bus plying between Kalaburagi and Shahbad was allegedly assaulted by relatives of a woman passenger after he asked to check her Aadhaar car for free travel under the Shakti scheme.
The incident occurred at Wadi town two days ago, but has come to light only now. The Muslim woman boarded the bus at Ravoor near Wadi and sought a free ticket after producing someone else’s Aadhaar card. When the conductor Arjun Kattimani insisted that she show her Aadhaar card, an argument ensued.
The woman then called her relatives in Wadi and when the bus entered the town, some men boarded the bus and thrashed the conductor. A case has been registered at the Wadi police station and the police are on the lookout for the attackers.
