BENGALURU: Covid cases are on the rise in the state, with Bengaluru accounting for the majority of the cases. Bengaluru is becoming a Covid hotspot.

Covid cases are increasing in the state and country. In Karnataka, cases are slowly rising, with 47 cases reported and one death. Out of these 47 cases, 37 are from Bengaluru, making it a Covid hotspot. Most cases are being reported in Bengaluru city and BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) areas, particularly in the western and eastern zones, Mahadevapura, Bengaluru South, and Bommanahalli.

Cases have been reported in areas like Whitefield, where an 84-year-old person died due to Covid last week. Cases have also been reported in Malleswaram, Rajajinagar, Agrahara Dasarahalli, Hoodi and other areas, affecting people of various age groups, including a 45-year-old and a 35-year-old.

With Covid test kits being dispatched, tests will be conducted in hospitals, including ILI and SARI cases. Covid tests will also be conducted in BBMP and private hospitals, which may lead to an increase in reported cases in Bengaluru. As Bengaluru is already becoming a Covid hotspot, control measures have become necessary.

The health department has decided to conduct Covid tests in all government hospitals, and test kits are being dispatched. The tests will be conducted on patients with symptoms and the target is to conduct 150-200 tests daily.

The health department has reported 47 fresh Covid cases in the state, with a positivity rate of 9 per cent, which is a cause for concern. The Health department has issued a circular making it mandatory to test all SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection) cases and send the samples to the laboratory on the same day.

The circular has been sent to all deputy commissioners, district health officers, and nodal officers, with instructions to conduct 150-200 tests.
