Five tourists stuck on rocks at Yedu Gundi Falls rescued with the help of rope

The youths were rescued by locals with the help of a rope.

MANGALURU: Five tourists, who were caught on rocks at the top of the Yeru Gundi Falls near Paladka close to Puttige in Mudabidre taluk were rescued by locals with the help of a rope on Monday.

The youths had gone towards the rocks despite warnings from local. Water has increased at several waterfalls due to the incessant rain in Dakshina Kannada district.

Water level in the Kumaradhara river at Kukke Subrahmanya has also increased.

Meanwhile, a team of 25 NDRF personnel have arrived in Puttur in view of the continuous rain across Dakshina Kannada district and are on alert. People living in hilly regions have been advised to move to safer areas and boats which had ventured into the sea have been called back.

With the weather department sounding a red alert for the district, fishermen who have gone out to sea have been given permission to dock their boats a the NMPA harbour.
