KOLAR: The police have busted a network which was creating fake Aadhaar and PAN cards, apart from birth and death certificates for people from outside the state in exchange for money, and arrested four people.
With many industries coming up in the district, scores of people from other states are coming to Kolar and staying here either for employment or business. The gang was creating fake documents for such people after taking thousands of rupees, according to Police Superintendent Nikhil B.
The arrested Madhu, Zabiullah, Krishna Reddy and Madhusudhan were operating from a photocopying shop in Malur town, which has also been sealed. Madhusudhan was earlier authorised to collect Aadhaar card data but after some wrongdoing, his permit was cancelled two years ago, the SP said.
The four were arrested by the CEN police and remanded to judicial custody. “We are investigating how many fake Aadhaar and PAN cards they created and if their are other involved. A case has been registered at the Malur police station and further investigation is under way”, the SP said.
