TUMAKURU: An ice cream factory owner was found dead inside his factory at Kunigal on May 11. What was initially believed to be a case of electrocution is now being investigated for murder with the son being a suspect.
Nagesh (58), a resident of Thimmasandra near Hebbur was found dead inside his Kunigal Apollo Ice Cream factory. The Kunigal police, who went through CCTV footage, now suspect that Nagesh’s son Surya may be involved in the murder.
The footage shows Surya gagging his father and pushing him to the ground while his accomplice joins and holds down Nagesh till he dies. They then made it look like a case of electrocution. Based on complaint from Nagesh’s sister Savitha TD, the police have taken up further investigation.
According to sources, Surya would regularly steal money from the ice cream factory without his father’s knowledge. When Nagesh came to know about it, the father and son had an argument.
Also, a youth, identified as Sanjay, was in a relationship with Nagesh’s daughter. While Surya had approved of the relationship, Nagesh was opposed to it and had even warned Sanjay against visiting his house.
Sources also said that Nagesh had earlier survived two attempts to end his life — once by staging an accident and then attacking him in Chitradurga. He had survived both attempts, but was found dead inside his factory.
