HAVERI: Two elderly individuals lost their lives to lightning strikes in Haveri district in separate cases.
In one incident, Mariyavva Nayakkar (60), a resident of Basapur village in Gadag district, who was working in a mango plantation in Kondozhi village of Hanagal taluk, died on the spot after being struck by lightning.
In another incident, Nagappa Kanasogi (62), a resident of Dammalli village in Hirekerur taluk, died after being struck by lightning while grazing cattle near a lake.
The police have visited the spots and conducted investigations. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds has been reported in various parts of the district, bringing relief from the heat.
