CHIKKAMAGALUR: A huge branch of a 100-year-old tree came crashing down on an autorickshaw and a car parked near the historical Kallattigari temple in Tarikere taluk on Monday. Luckily, there was no one in the vehicles.

The tree branch crashed due to strong winds and the occupants of the car, who hail from Davanagere, had parked their vehicle and gone ahead when the incident occurred. However, the autorickshaw driver, who hails from Geramaradi, suffered a broken hand.

The historical temple draws hundreds of devotees every day and the Kallattigari waterfalls is also a popular picnic spot.
