CM Siddaramaiah loses cool, raises hand at Additional SP after BJP women activists raise black flags at Congress event

BELAGAVI: Tempers ran high at the venue of the Congress convention in front of the CPEd ground in Belagavi, where Congress had organized a protest meeting against the Union government over price rise, after BJP Mahila Morcha workers, who had managed to gain entry, held up black cloths and raised slogans against the Congress government in the state.

Even as Chief Minsiter Siddaramaiah was delivering his speech, BJP Mahila Morcha workers protested by displaying black clothes and got into an altercation with police. The incident left the CM visibly shaken for a while The CM called for the superintendent of police in singular. When Dharwad Additional SP Narayana Bharama appeared on the stage, the CM took him to task and raised his hand at the Additional SP in public for not taking any action against BJP workers.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was angry that BJP workers entered the venue of a Congress convention in Belagavi. When Law Minister H K Patil moved in and raised ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogans too, the CM remained unmoved. The act of the CM has raised questions about how the Congress government treats the police department and police officers.

Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar too got into a heated argument with police outside the covention venue, questioning them how BJP workers were allowed inside. “We too have workers in villages and cities. We too can act likewise when BJP organises programmes, but it’s not nice. If they continue like this, we won’t allow them to conduct any programmes”.

The police had detained the BJP Mahila Morcha activists, but BJP activists tried to mob the vehicles in which they were being taken away. Congress and BJP workers also got into an altercation after the latter raised slogans against the Siddaramaiah government.
