Auto driver stages robbery by gang of nine to avoid repaying Rs 55,000 to trader

BENGALURU: An autorickshaw driver has alleged that he was robbed of Rs 55,000 by nine people near Aluru, but investigation revealed that he wanted to deceive a shop owner who had given him groundnuts to sell.

The auto driver Amaresh claimed to have been robbed and bound his hands and feett to deceive others. Amaresh from Bagalagunte, who trades in groundnuts, allegedly staged the robbery drama near Aluru Panchayat, near Nelamangala.

Amaresh had purchased groundnuts from a shop owner and owed him Rs 55,000. Instead of paying the amount, Amaresh tied himself with a rope and claimed that nine people had robbed him.

The shop owner was suspected in the case and informed the police. The Madanayakanahalli police visited the site and questioned Amaresh. During the investigation, it was revealed that Amaresh had spent the Rs 55,000 and was trying to deceive the shop owner.

The police then Amaresh into custody and questioned him. After inquiry, the police warned Amaresh and let him off. During questioning, Amaresh revealed that he didn’t want to pay the owner Rs 55,000 and came up with the robbery idea after spending the whole amount.
