GADAG: A physical education instructor, who was to get married on May 8, committed suicide by hanging on Sunday, allegedly as she was blackmailed by her boyfriend with whom she had broken up recently.
The deceased is Sairabanu Nadaf (29), a resident of Asundi village in Gadag taluk. She ended her life at home after leaving behind a death note when here family members were away shopping for the wedding.
Sairabanu was in a relationship with Mylari for the last five years, but they had broken up recently. She had agreed for the marriage due to pressure from the family, but Mylari began threatening to release their intimate photos and videos online if she got married to someone else. Upset over this, Sairabanu committed suicide.
Sairabanu was the last child of her parents and was working in a private school. She had also contested in wrestling at the national level and had won several medals and trophies and was also the breadwinner of the family. She has two sisters, Raziya and Reshma. The police have apprehended Mylari and registered a case at the Gadag police station. Further investigation is under way.
