NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday welcomed the ‘Mudra Yojana beneficiaries’ at his residence and said that the scheme is an “eye-opener” for any government. “I thank you all for coming to my residence. It is said in our scriptures that when guests come to a house, the house becomes pure, so I welcome you all”, PM Modi said, interacting with the beneficiaries.
PM Modi said that Rs 33 lakh crore has been given to the people of the country without any guarantee. “You read in the newspaper that this is a government of the rich. Even if you add up the total of all the rich, they would not have received Rs 33 lakh crore. So far, Rs 33 lakh crore have been given to the common man of the country…Today the youth of India, the entrepreneurial skills they have, if they get a little help, then very big results are achieved. This Mudra Yojana is an eye-opener for any government. The maximum number of women have come forward in this”, he added.

The Prime Minister said that the Mudra scheme is not for “Modi’s praises”. “This scheme is to give courage to the youth of my country to stand on their own feet”, he added. PM Modi said that among all these beneficiaries, some have provided employment to one, some to 2, and some to 40-50 people.
“This massive task of providing employment generates the economy. In the Mudra scheme, the highest number of women have come forward. Women have applied for the most loans, received the most loans, and are also the fastest to repay them”, the PM asserted.
During the interaction, the beneficiaries shared insights on how this scheme has transformed their lives. An entrepreneur from Kerala, who had been working in the UAE, revealed how the MUDRA Yojana has benefited him, saying, “it had transformed him into a successful entrepreneur”.
The Prime Minister asked him if his mother was upset about him moving back to India, to which the entrepreneur said that “everything went well in the end”.

PM Modi in a post on X, said that the Mudra Yojana has given opportunities to countless people to showcase their entrepreneurial skills. “Interacted with some of the beneficiaries of the scheme. Their journey is inspiring,” he posted on X with a video interacting with beneficiaries at his residence in the national capital.

He further said that every Mudra loan carries with it dignity, self-respect and opportunity. “It is particularly heartening that half of the Mudra beneficiaries belong to SC, ST and OBC Communities, and over 70% of the beneficiaries are women! Every Mudra loan carries with it dignity, self-respect and opportunity. In addition to financial inclusion, this scheme has also ensured social inclusion and economic freedom,” he added.
The Prime Minister further said that the central government will continue focusing on ensuring a robust ecosystem for every aspiring entrepreneur. “In the times to come, our Government will continue focusing on ensuring a robust ecosystem where every aspiring entrepreneur, has access to credit thus giving him or her the confidence and a chance to grow,” the PM said.

Across the country, lives have transformed. Kamlesh, a home-based tailor in Delhi, expanded her work, employed three other women, and enrolled her children in a good school. Bindu, who began with 50 brooms a day, now leads a unit producing 500. These are not exceptions anymore. They reflect a larger shift, as per the Ministry.
According to an official statement by the Ministry of Finance, today, India marks 10 years of the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY). Since its launch in April 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana has sanctioned over 52 crore loans worth Rs 32.61 lakh crore, fuelling a nationwide entrepreneurial revolution. (ANI)
