KOPPAL: Freedom fighter, Hyderabad-Karnataka liberation activist and linguist Dr Panchakshari Hiremath died in Dharwad on Saturday due to age-related illnesses. He was 92. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has condoled his death.

Hailing from Birasalli in Koppal taluk, Hiremath was living in Dharwad. His last rites were conducted at his native village late on Saturday afternoon. He had authored several literary works including essays, commentaries, poems and translations.
Panchakshari Hiremath was also the recepient of several awards including the Rajyotsava Award and the Kendra Sahitya Academy award.
