BENGALURU: Days after Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Vartika Katiyar complained to Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh against Inspector General of Police Roopa (IGP) D Moudgil, the latter has written to the state’s top bureaucrat claiming that the allegations against her are false.

Roopa claimed that false allegations are being made repeatedly against her and that she is being hounded by the media. She also sought that action should be taken against Vartika Katiyar.

Earlier, in her letter to the chief secretary, Vartika Katiyar claimed that Roopa got three junior staffers to ‘steal’ some documents from her chamber and expressed apprehension that Roopa may forge the documents and conspire against her. She claimed that photos of the documents were shared on WhatsApp.

Further, Vartika Katiyar claimed that the key to her chamber was brought from the control room and has named three police personnel — Mallikarjun, Manjunath and Kiran — and added that photos of the documents were taken with ill intention.

Following the allegations, Vartika Katiyar was moved out of the Internal Security Divisions (ISD) on Monday and posted to the Civil Defence Department. On Wednesday, Roopa Moudgil was also transferred and posted as managing director of the Karnataka Silk Marketing Board Ltd.
