BMTC to sack bus drivers for accidents due to reckless driving

An autorickshaw was crushed between two BMTC buses recently, killing the passenger and driver.

BENGALURU: Following the recent accident where an autorickshaw was crushed between two BMTC buses, leaving the auto passenger and driver dead, the transport utility has deciced to sack drivers who cause accidents due to reckless driving.

Buses have not displayed fitness certificates.

The move comes as part of BMTC’s efforts to reduce accidents and an official order is expected either today or tomorrow. Amidst this, a reality check by Public TV revealed that many of the BMTC buses are plying without fitness certificates (FC). The accident involving the autorickshaw had raised questions on whether there was a brake failure in the bus or if was the driver’s negligence.

Two bus drivers were filmed arguing over some issue on Nrupatunga Road.

Amidst this, two driver of BMTC buses, a Volvo and a regular bus, were filmed in an undated video on Nrupatunga Road engaging in an argument while seated in their seats. While the provocation for the argument was not clear, one of the drivers could be heard telling the other in a video to ‘go ahead and die’.
