BELAGAVI: A man stabbed his estranged wife in the back four days after they agreed for a divorce, at Pachapur village in Hukkeri taluk. The accused is since missing while the woman is undergoing treatment at the BIMS hospital.

Uddavva, a resident of Gutaguddi village, had married Halappa, an excavator operator of the same village, four years ago. The couple argued frequently over Halappa’s drinking habits and Uddavva was fed up of the daily quarrels.

Upset over this, Uddavva approached the village elders and it was decided that the couple will seek a divorce. However, just four days later, Halappa stabbed Uddavva when she was returning from Mavanur along with her older sister on a two-wheeler, and fled. The Hukkeri police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused.
