KALABURAGI: A truck stuffed with about 80 buffaloes and calves was intercepted by Hindu activists near Jeratagi in Jewargi taluk on Thursday night. The cattle have since been rescued and sent to the Nandi goshala in Kalaburagi.
The truck was on its way from Basavana Bagewadi to Zaheerabad in Telangana. It is said that the buffaloes and calves were being transported illegally to slaughter houses there by Mohammed Zahir, Shiek Yasin, Sheik Zeeshan and Mohammed Mastan, following which they were arrested.
A case has been registered at the Nelogi police station and further investigation is under way.
