8 of lawyer’s family injured after LPG cylinder explodes inside house in Hosapete village

BALLARI: Eight people of a family sustained injuries, two of them seriously, when an LPG cylinder exploded in their house at Gadiganur village in Hosapete taluk in the early hours on Saturday. The family members were asleep when the cylinder exploded.

The injured include lawyer Halappa (42), Kavitha (32), Gangamma (63), Mylarappa (48), Mallamma and at least one infant. The two seriously injured are being treated at the Sanjeevini Hospital in Toranagal. The impact of the blast was such that a wall of the house collapsed. The Fire and Emergency Services and police personnel visted the spot.

District in-charge minister Zameer Ahmed Khan also visited the spot and elicited information from the locals. He later visited the Jindal Hospital and checked on the injured. He instructed the hospital staff to continue treatment for those who had sustained 30-40 per cent burns and ordered shifting of those with 70 per cent burns to Bengaluru.

Lawmakers Krishna Nayak and N T Srinivas, the district deputy commissioner and police superintendent accompanied the minister.
