7 arrested for cheating job aspirants of lakhs by promising railway jobs

BENGALURU: Seven people have been arrested for cheating job aspirants of lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs as ticket collectors in the Indian Railways. The arrests were made by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police.

The accused have been identified as Dr Lakshmikanth Hosamani, Muruli, Bhimarao Entamani, Basu Kasappa, Koolappa Singe, Santhosh and Sridhar.

The police said that the accused had even provided fake training to the job aspirants in Mumbai and Kanpur and had given fake training certificates through online. However, when the job aspirants went to join their duties, they realised that they had been cheated.

Later, Husanappa Madyal of Vijayapura filed a complaint with the CCB regarding the fraud, and an FIR was registered against seven accused.

The accused had advertised for the post of ticket collector in the Railways. Believing this, Husanappa Madyal, Shivakumar, Ashok and others from Vijayapura had applied for the job. Later, they were called to many places, including Bengaluru and Vijayapura, and the aspirants had paid the accused between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 25 lakh each for the training and job placement.

The police said that a few days after the training, they were asked to join duty. Initially, the job aspirants were happy that they had finally got a job, but did not receive any appointment letter for months. When the aspirants became suspicious, they checked and found out that they had been cheated. When asked, the fraudsters threatened them of their lives. Following this, the aspirants complained to the CCB police.

When the aspirants asked for their money to be returned, the accused allegedly used abusive language and threatened to kill them, the complaint says. The CCB police have registered a case against the seven accused and are investigating the matter further.
