6 kg gold, 5 kg silver and Rs 3.13 crore in deposits found at engineer’s house during Lokayukta raid

BELAGAVI: The Lokayukta police raid on an assistant executive engineer (AEE) in the Urban Development Department in Belagavi has uncovered disproportionate assets worth over Rs 14 crore.

The raid was conducted at seven locations, including the officer’s residence in Anjaneya Nagar, and Lokayukta officials seized 6 kg of gold, 5 kg of silver, Rs 3.12 crore in deposits, luxury cars, and bikes. Eighteen plots were also discovered in Savadatti, Hukkeri, and Hubballi.

The AEE, Ajay Singh Rajput, is accused of accumulating assets beyond his known income sources. The Lokayukta officials are examining the seized documents and assets to determine the extent of the alleged corruption.

The raid was conducted on April 7, and the investigation is continuing. The bank lockers are yet to be checked, and more assets may be uncovered.  The investigation is ongoing, focusing on the officer’s alleged disproportionate assets.
