CHIKKAMAGALUR: A 54-year-old man, who claimed to be a distant relative of a family, impregnated their daughter who is a Class 10 student, in the town. The accused is absconding ever since a case was registered against him.
Eliyaz (54) sexually assaulted the girl when her parents, who are labourers, were away at work. He also allegedly threatened the victim that he would kill her parents if she revealed about it to anyone. The parents came to know last Thursday when they had taken her to the government hospital for a checkup that she was three months pregnant.
Eliyaz has two wives, including a 23-year-old woman. When the girls parents approached the police to lodge a complaint, the two wives tried to dissuade them saying that they would take the girl to a hospital and also give them money. The police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused.
