5 suspected terrorists, who planning blasts in Bengaluru, arrested in joint op by CCB, NIA

BENGALURU: Five suspected terrorists, who were allegedly linked to a terrorist group, were arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police, based on information from the Intelligence Bureau. The five had allegedly planned to carry out blasts in Bengaluru.

The arrested accused are Sayed Suhail, Umar, Tabrez, Mudasir and Faizal Rabbani while the leader of the team, Junaid, is absconding. All the five were accused in a 2017 murder case and were lodged in Parappana Agrahara Central jail where they came in contact with terrorists.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and CCB officers conducted a joint operation and arrested them when they were having a meeting near Sohail’s house in Sultanpalya of R T Nagar.

All the suspected terrorists are residents of Bengaluru and had planned to carry out the blast in crowded areas.

An FIR was registered for seditious activities at Hebbal police station. The arrested suspects are being interrogated at the technical cell at Adugodi. Two walkie-talkies, seven countrymade pistols, 42 live bullets, two daggers, four grenades and cartridges were seized from the arrested.

During preliminary investigation, it has come to light that the suspected terrorists, who had four grenades, were preparing to carry out blasts in Bengaluru.
