5 of eight accused arrested in Congress gram panchayat member murder case

CHIKKAMAGALURU: The police have arrested five of the eight accused in the murder case of Congress worker and Gram Panchayat member Ganesh.

Around 10.30 pm on December 5, a clash occurred between two groups near a bar in Sakharayapatna. Half an hour after the clash, another clash broke out near Kalmurudeshwara Math. The clash escalated and Ganesh was attacked with a machete and killed.

Chikkamagalur SP Vikram Amte formed four teams to probe the case and  apprehend the culprits. The police are conducting an intensive search for three others, Ajay, Nithin (alias Science), and Darshan (alias Japan), who are absconding.

Tight police security has been put in place at Sakharayapatna. On Saturday, 100 police officers and a KSRP unit were deployed. On Sunday, 80 police officers have again been assigned to Sakharayapatna.
