KARWAR: A boat carrying 40 tourists capsized in the water near Mudangi of Tadadi village in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Sunday. On receiving information, the Coast Guard rushed to the spot, and, along with locals, rescued them.
The tourist boat belonged to Ganesh and Ramesh of Mudangi and they were running it without permission from the Tourism Department. The boat was carrying 40 people instead of 28 people, causing it to sink in the water off the coast. Fortunately, the tourists in the boat were saved from risk as they were all wearing life jackets.
