YADGIR: Four people were killed and one sustained injuries in lightning strikes at S Hosahalli in Gurmitkal taluk on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Monamma (25), Bhanu (4), Srinivas (2) of Gajarkota village and Sabanna (17) of S Hosahalli village.
Bhimashankar, Monamma and their two children were travelling towards Yadgir town on a motorcycle. When it started to rain, they took shelter under a tamarind tree. But a bolt of lightning left Monamma and the children dead while Bhimashankar’s condition is said to be critical in hospital.
In another incident, Sabanna, who was working in the fields, was struck by a bolt of lightning at S Hosahalli village. The incidents occurred in Gurmitkal police station limits.
