BENGALURU: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has cracked down on unauthorised Cauvery water connections in the city. After conducting inspections across various zones, the BWSSB has detected over 43,000 individual houses and 383 apartment complexes that were tapping into the Cauvery water supply illegally.
The board has issued notices to these households and apartments, imposing hefty fines for the unauthorised connections. The BWSSB has warned that if the connections are not regularised, those responsible could face imprisonment.
The BWSSB supplies approximately 2,225 million litres of Cauvery water to Bengaluru daily. The board has intensified its efforts to detect and disconnect unauthorised connections to prevent water wastage and ensure efficient supply.
The BWSSB has appealed to those with illegal Cauvery pipe connections to regularise them to avoid penalties and potential imprisonment.
