BENGALURU: There has been a slight increase in Covid-positive cases in the state over the past week, with a total of 35 individuals testing positive. Of these, 32 cases have been reported from Bengaluru, according to Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.

Addressing the media in Bengaluru on Saturday, the minister stated that there is no need for the public to panic. He assured that the health department has already issued the necessary guidelines in this regard.

“The Covid Technical Committee held a meeting yesterday to discuss the recent cases reported in the state. We have taken precautionary measures and are in contact with the Central government. A total of 257 cases have been reported across the country. Most individuals who have tested positive are showing only mild symptoms, and no serious complications have been observed”, said the minister.

He added that mandatory Covid testing has been instructed for individuals experiencing respiratory issues and those falling under the SARI category. Samples must be collected and Covid tests conducted for patients admitted to hospitals with respiratory or cardiac-related illnesses.

The public has been advised to wear masks in areas with a high concentration of post-partum women. “There is no need to be afraid. Covid cases have emerged, but there is no cause for alarm. Following the Health Department’s guidelines and taking basic precautions is sufficient”, the Minister stated.

At present, mask-wearing is not mandatory for everyone, but it is recommended for pregnant and postpartum women. Maintaining hygiene and using sanitizers is advisable. There are no restrictions on public movement, and normal life can continue. He also mentioned that instructions have been given to stock up on testing kits for at least one month.

Testing will be conducted only when necessary. With 32 Covid-positive cases reported in Bengaluru and a slight increase noted over the past week, the situation is being closely monitored. “As of now, there is no cause for concern”, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao reassured.
