BENGALURU : The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has issued a demand notices to 32 paying guest (PG) accommodations in the city over illegal water connections. The board has also decided to conduct checks on more than 500 PGs in the city.
Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board chairperson Dr V Ram Prasath Manohar said the board had issued demand notices to more than 32 PGs who were using water from piped connections without permission. “They have been drawing water through illegal pipe connections for some years. The board has taken action by imposing penalties as per law and regulations”, he said.
The unauthorised water connections are mostly in Mahadevapura and East zones. The BWSSB has decided to check more than 1,000 PGs in Bengaluru and cut the water connections of the PGs that are not legal. The board has also decided to legalise them with penalties or take legal action against the PGs.
