3,000 chickens die at poultry farm in Harapanahalli village, poisoning suspected

Paramesh Nayak had started the poultry farm only three months ago.

DAVANAGERE: About 3,000 chickens being reared at a poultry farm at Kandikere thanda near Duggavati in Harapanahalli taluk died suddenly, giving rise to speculation that they may have been poisoned. The poultry farm belongs to one Paramesh Nayak.

On receiving information, veterinarians visited the poultry farm and collected samples for testing. They said no symptoms of bird flu were evident and added that test results would reveal the cause of death.

Paramesh has started the poultry farm only three months ago and is shocked by the largescale deaths of chickens. He said he was hoping to be financially independent, but is now staring at a bleak future.
