A bus stand is there from 13 years, vanished over a night.

BENGALURU: A bus stop which was there for 30 years near HRB Layout in Kalyan Nagar in Bengaluru, was removed overnight on March 12 as it could cause problems for the construction of a new commercial building.

Locals alleged that the bus stop on Banaswadi Main Road was demolished overnight. It was constructed by Lions Club in 1990 after taking the permission from Bangalore Transport Service (BTS) and the Bangalore City Corporation.

Now, the senior citizens’ welfare association of Banaswadi has approached the Banaswadi police and registered a complaint to ‘locate’ the bus stop. The issue was also brought to the notice of BBMP Chief Commissioner and the local MLA, demanding re-construction of the bus shelter.

Pampanna, secretary of the senior citizens’ welfare organisation, said, “Some people have demolished the bus shelter overnight without leaving any proof behind. This bus stop was a shelter for not only bus passengers, but also for pedestrians, mainly for senior citizen, during summer and monsoon. We are just asking the authorities concerned to build a new bus shelter here. The bus stop is one kilometer away”.

Ravindra, BBMP special commissioner.

Ravindra, BBMP special commissioner promised to verify the issue after getting a report and said suitable action will be taken if there is any encroachment.
