RAICHUR: Thirty sheep among a flock died and 11 sheep were left with broken legs after a speeding car ran over by them at Lingasugur bypass road on Monday.
The accident occurred when Jagannath of Yapaladinni village was shepherding 120 sheep from Yapaladinni village to Kallur. When he and the herd were near the Lingasugur bypass road, a car travelling from Goa to Hyderabad rammed them. It is said that the driver lost control.
Three occupants in the car suffered minor injuries, while 30 sheep died on the spot and others were injured. The shepherd suffered a loss of Rs 3.5 lakh as a result of the sheep’s death. The incident occurred in Raichur West police station limits.
