DAVANAGERE: Three people of a family died on the spot while two others were injured after the Maruti Omni van they were travelling in collided with a tractor laded with paddy hay on the national highway near Gullenahalli in Channagiri taluk on Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Rudreshappa (64), Mallikarjun (62) and Gangamma (80). The deceased and the injured are residents of Narashettyhalli Channagiri taluk. They were on their way from Santhebennur towards Channagiri when the accident occurred.
The front portion of the van was completely crushed due to the impact. The injured were rushed to the taluk hospital for treatment. The Channagiri police visited the spot and registered a case.
