RAICHUR: Three people died on the spot after a motorcycle collided with a lorry at Basaveshwara Circle here early on Saturday morning. The accident occurred around 3 am and the victims were identified as Mohammad Ali Pasha (24), Noor Mohammad (19), and Fayaz (26), all residents of Sukhani Colony.
The victims were returning from a night cricket match when the lorry, which was coming from Ganj Circle, rammed into the bike, causing the fatal accident. The truck driver, who fled the scene, has been apprehended by the police.
A case has been registered at the Raichur City traffic police station, and the bodies were sent to the RIMS Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
In another accident, a student was run over by a bus on Station Road, resulting in his death on the spot. The victim, Basavaraj Arakera (21), fell off an autorickshaw and was hit by the bus.
Basavaraj was a BSc student at the Government Degree College in Raichur and was on his way to a catering job during his holidays. The bus, which was speeding, lost control and hit him, causing fatal injuries. The Raichur City traffic police have registered a case, and the KKRTC bus has been seized.
