BENGALURU: Three people were arrested for creating a ruckus over parking an autorickshaw at Pragatipura in Kumaraswamy Layout on Sunday night. The three are Sayyed Taha, Afrid Pasha and Karim. They were arrested based on a complaint lodged by Sukumar, a neighbour, against auto driver Sayyed Taha for allegedly assaulting him.
He later came with over 20 youths after Namaz to allegedly assault Sukumar’s family members. Three women who in the house were also allegedly assaulted. Three women and three men were injured in the scuffle. The injured were admitted to a local private hospital.
Meanwhile, the assaulted autorickshaw driver Sukumar said another auto driver used to park his auto right in front of their house every day. “Like other days, he came yesterday to park near our house gate. When I asked him, he raised his voice at me. After some time, he brought 20-30 people and started a ruckus. He assaulted me and my family members. Some people have being detained and are being questioned as I have lodged a complaint at the police station”.
Sukumar also alleged, “I had hoisted a huge flag on my house during the Pran Pratishta ceremony at Ram Mandir. I am devotional, spiritual and I believe in Rama and Hinduism. Now, there is doubt about that too. I have been posting some posts on social media related to the BJP. I don’t think he created a ruckus just for the parking issue. There might be old rivalry”.
Sukumar’s wife, Bharathi, said, “They assaulted women and children. They also took away my mangalya chain from my neck. There were 20-30 people gathered, but no one came to our rescue during the assault. We are scared after the incident”.
An FIR had been registered under for rioting at Pragatipura under IPC Sections 143, 148, and 358 against the accused in connection at the Kumaraswamy Layout police station.
South Division DCP Shivaprakash Devaraj, briefing the incident, said that there was a ruckus created in Pragatipura around 7.30 pm on Sunday night between neighbours over parking autorickshaws. “The three accused allegedly assaulted the complainant Sukumar. There is no communal angle established in the investigation so far. There is a mosque just close to where the incident took place. A video of the fight has gone viral on social media. Namaz was going on at the same time. People gathered on coming to know of the issue, but they have not come to support anybody. Those who had come for Namaz left later. There is no such thing as old rivalry related to Sukumar hoisting the Sri Rama flag, and no such evidence has been found. Even the complainant has not mentioned it in the complaint”.
