MANDYA: The social evil of child marriages continues to plague Mandya district with 28 cases being recorded in a span of one month. Of these, FIRs have been registered in three cases while 25 child marriages were prevented.
The 28 cases were recorded between April 25 and May 25 and despite awareness campaigns, such instances have been recurring. Last year too, the district recorded 186 cases of child marriage. While 129 weddings were stopped, FIRs were registered in 57 cases.
