BENGALURU: A 27-year-old man died after being infected with dengue, at Kaggadasapura in the city. The death was confirmed by the health audit of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBM).

Last Friday, two deaths were recorded, suspected to be due to dengue. While the Kaggadasapura resident’s death has been attributed to dengue, the death of an 80-year-old man was due to cancer, the BBMP health audit said.

Meanwhile, 213 fresh cases were recorded in the city taking the total count in June to 1,742 since January. The health audit pointed out that women and children were contracting the disease faster and advised pregnant women to stay safe.

The BBMP has also taken up fumigation and application of insecticides in select high-risk areas to control the breeding of mosquitoes. As per a BBMP survey over 12 lakh houses are in susceptible areas and house visits will be taken up.
