BENGALURU: A group of 27 tourists from Karnataka, who had set out from various areas including Anekal, are stranded in Nepal due to the ongoing unrest. The tourists, who were on a package tour, had expected to return on Saturday, but their flight has been put on hold due to the curfew imposed by the army.
The tourists are currently stranded in a building that was set on fire by protesters, and there are fires burning in four nearby locations, leaving them fearing for their lives. Minister Ramalinga Reddy and Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh are in touch with the group and are working to ensure their safe return.
The state government is also actively involved in the rescue efforts, with the Chief Secretary and Resident Commissioner of Karnataka Bhavan in Delhi in contact with the tourists. The government is in talks with the Ministry of External Affairs to bring the tourists back safely, following the instructions of the Chief Minister.
It is reported that several other tourist groups from Karnataka are also stranded in Nepal, and efforts are being made to ensure their safe return.
