KOLAR: A 21-year-old youth died after consuming five bottles of alcohol on the rocks for a wager of Rs 10,000 at Poojarahalli in Mulbagal taluk on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Karthik.

The youth accepted a wager from his friend Venkatareddy who promised to pay Rs 10,000 if he could down five bottles of liquor on the rocks. Karthik consumed the alcohol without adding water and soon fell ill.

Karthik was shifted to a hospital, but died without responding to treatment. He had got married about a year ago and his wife had delivered a daughter only nine days ago. The incident occurred in Mulbagal Rural police limits, who have taken up further investigation.

Meanwhile, the Mulbagal Rural police have arrested two people who were involved in cricket betting near Lingapura Gate. The arrrested were identified as Suhail Khan and Irfan.
