21-year-old man stabbed to death in Belagavi over trivial issue

BELAGAVI: A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death due to old enmity on the outskirts of Macche near Yellur Road on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Prateek Lohar (21), a resident of Majagaon village.

Everyone in the village was participating in Holi celebrations when two group of youths were sitting side by side and partying. At this time, a youth from one group asked for a water bottle and a fight broke out. Five people from the other group attacked Shubham Sulagekara, leaving him seriously injured. Immediately, he was admitted to the district hospital.

The others in the open field continued with the party, and at that time, Prateek Lohar went near the group and questioned about the attack on Shubham. The group then attacked Prateek with a screwdriver and escaped. Locals then informed the police.

A case has been registered at the Belagavi Rural police station. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Shekhar HT visited the spot and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is under way.
