BENGALURU: Ramanagara Congress MLA and loyalist of Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Iqbal Hussain, confidently stated that Shivakumar will definitely become the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
The remarks come after Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s recent comments that DK Shivakumar is dreaming of becoming Chief Minister. Hussain also highlighted that despite previous claims, the Congress party had secured 140 seats and formed the government, keeping its promises to the people.
Speaking to the reporters on Sunday, Iqbal Hussain said, “With the blessing of Madappa, DK Shivakumar will become Chief Minister, 200 per cent. Kumaraswamy said last time that we would not form the government. However, the Congress party won 140 seats and formed the government. They didn’t give guarantee schemes to the people of the state; we gave it. People are trusting in us because our government is keeping its promises. We will win more seats and form the government under the leadership of our leader DK Shivakumar”.
Last Friday, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar hit out at Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, saying that he will neither win nor form a government in the state. Speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence, he said, “Kumaraswamy had called on his supporters to get ready for a BJP-JDS government. I replied to him then, stating that I would present him with a suit (clothes) if he won the election and formed the government in 2028”.
Shivakumar was replying to a reporter on Kumaraswamy’s statement that he wasn’t poor enough to take clothes from him.
Last Saturday, the Deputy CM said that the government has decided to deliver the Yettinahole water to Kolar by 2027. He mentioned that the forest department has discussed the project’s issues. Land acquisition and financial issues related to the construction of a balanced reservoir in Bairagonda, Lakkenahalli, were also discussed in the meeting with the forest department.
Shivakumar informed that the changes in the project will take place based on the suggestions of the ministers and asserted that he would study everything and raise the issue in the upcoming cabinet meeting. (ANI)
