CHIKKABALLAPUR, CHIKKAMAGALUR: In separate cases, two moving cars caught fire and were completely charred. However, the occupants of both the cars were safe.
In Chikkaballapur taluk, a car caught fire on National Highway 44 near Bandahalli Gate, suspectedly due to a short ciruit, on Sunday night. The driver got out of the car immediately on noticing fire, but the vehicle was completely gutted by the time the Fire and Emergency Services personnel reached the spot.
The incident occurred when the car driver was returning to Chikkaballapur from Bagepalli. The Peresandra police have registered a case.
In the other incident, a Maruti Omni car caught fire due to an electrical short circuit near Doddananagudda village close to Aldur in Chikkamagalur taluk. Seven people were travelling in the car when it caught fire and all luckily escaped. The Fire and Emergency Services personnel put out the fire, but the car was completely burnt.
