2 boys who went for a swim in abandoned quarry missing, search on

Fire and Emergency Services personnel launched a search and rescue operation early on Wednesday.

BENGALURU: Two children who had gone to swim in an abandoned quarry at Hulimangala in Anekal taluk on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday evening have been missing ever since.

They were identified as Theerthesh (12) and Faizal Khan, both residents of Maragondanahalli near Electronics city. They went to the quarry for a swim around 5 pm on Tuesday evening, but did not return home.

The two boys who are missing ever since they went swimming on Tuesday evening.

Family members of the boys alleged that the Hebbagodi police had been dismissive when they tried to lodge a missing person’s complaint on Tuesday night and asked them to come on Wednesday morning.

The Fire and Emergency Services personnel launched a search early on Wednesday after a bicycle, footwear and clothes belonging to the two boys were found close to the quarry.

In another incident, a construction worker died after bricks fell on him from an under-construction building near Marasur Gate on Chandapura main road on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Pankaj Kumar Yadav (35), hailing from Jharkhand.

The incident occurred at the construction site of Sipani Royal Apartments when bricks were being hiosted up to the sixth floor. The cable wires of the bucket suddenly snapped and the bricks fell on Pankaj Kumar, killing him on the spot. The Surya Nagar police visited the spot and have registered a case.
