CHIKKABALLAPUR: A 19-year-old youth, who was in a live-in relationship with a 38-year-old divorcee, ended his life by hanging from a jamun tree at Moodachintalahalli village in Chintamani taluk on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Nikhil Kumar.

Nikhil was living with Sharada and his family has blamed her for his death. She lives close to Nikhil’s house in the village. Despite Nikhil’s parents Umadevi and Narayanaswamy complaining to the police several times, Sharada refused to end the relationship.

On Wednesday, Nikhil was found hanging from a tree near a lake in Kachahalli village. Nikhil’s sisters have accused Sharada of being responsible for his death, claiming that she had laded him with her charms and distanced him from his parents.

“We lodged complaints several times, but Nikhil would refuse to come back home. He once came home, stayed for a few hours and returned to her house at 1 am. On one occasion, when we when to her house to bring our son back, he was sitting on the bed and there were beer bottles on the floor. There were also a few other youngsters in the house. Sharada has three children from her marriage, but refused to end her relationship with our son”, said Umadevi.

Police superintendent Kushal Chowksey said the police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by Nikhil’s parents and are on the lookout for Sharada.
