18 passengers have lucky escape after private bus catches fire

MANDYA: At least 18 passengers, who were traveling from Bengaluru to Kannur in a private bus, narrowly escaped death as it caught fire after a tyre burst on the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway near Mandya.

The incident took place near Sanjo Hospital near Mandya, and all 18 passengers had a lucky escape. The bus, owned by Ashok and Logistic Travels, was completely gutted in the fire.

A spark appeared after one of the tyres burst. Showing presence of mind, the driver immediately stopped the bus and asked the passengers to get off, avoiding a big disaster from happening. Within moments, the fire spread throughout the bus.

On getting information about the incident, the police and fire tenders reached the spot and extinguished the flames.The travel company arranged alternative transportation for the passengers. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Mandya Rural police station.
