BENGALURU: After a government bus belonging to the Kalyana Karnataka State Transport Corporation (KKSRTC) was stolen from Chincholi bus station in Kalaburagi a week ago, some unidentified persons have stolen 167 liters of diesel worth Rs 14,000 from two BMTC buses at the Puttenahalli bus depot in Yelahanka New Town.

A case has been registered by the Bangalore Metro Transport Corporation (BMTC) staff at the Yelahanka New Town police station.

The capacity of the diesel tank of a bus is 210 litres.

A bus driver had parked the vehicle at the Puttenahalli bus depot on February 18 after completing the day’s schedules. The diesel theft came to light when a depot staffer were checking the buses and found that fuel had spilled on the ground and on the wall. He also noticed fuel spilled under another bus too.

The BMTC management suspects that a gang may be actively involved in such cases. Batteries from buses were stolen thrice in the past.
