BIDAR: A 16-year-old schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the first floor of her school building in Bheemalakhed village in Chitaguppa taluk of the district. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community.
According to police, the deceased Madiya Nasir Pasha was a 10th standard student at Adarsh School in Bheemalakhed village. The reason behind her drastic action is said to be alleged harassment by a classmate who had been pressuring her to reciprocate his romantic feelings.
CCTV footage obtained by Public TV shows the boy teasing Madiya, and she is seen jumping off the building shortly after. The police have taken the boy into custody for questioning.
The Chitguppa police team visited the scene, and a case has been registered at Bheemalakhed police station. The authorities are investigating the matter to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Madiya’s death.
