BENGALURU: Rock solid determination can drive you to achieve the impossible, even if the road to success is hard to traverse. Emerging tennis star 15-year-old Krish Ajay Tyagi has just proved that. He is the son of Ajay Tyagi and Swapna, who hail from Uttar Pradesh.

Krish Ajay Tyagi is training under Harsha Lingappa.

Krish was born and brought up at Sarjapur in Bengaluru. He started playing tennis five years ago, with encouragement from his parents, and secured second position in national tennis ranking.

Krish also participated in Grade 5, 4, 3 and 2 tournaments and secured second spot at the state level. He participated in international tennis tournaments over the last three month and brought home gold medals. Krish plans to play in the seniors championship in coming days and is training at the Harsha Lingappa Tennis Academy (HLTA).

Krish Ajay Tyagi said his goal is to become an international player and World’s No-1 tennis player.

Speaking to Public TV, Krish Ajay Tyagi said, “I love playing tennis. I have been playing for the last five years and my goal is to become an international player. I am working hard to become the World No. 1 in tennis. I reached this level with the support of parents and coaches. I have played in India and in other countries like Armenia, Japan, Iran, Turkey and so on”.

“In the Under-12 category, my year-end ranking was 3, in the Under-14 category, it was No. 1 and in U-16 ranking was No-1. Currently my ranking is No. 7. The International Tennis Federation ranking (ITF) has ranked me at 233. Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic is my inspiration. I like his freestyle game and flexibility. I am looking forward to playing more tennis matches”, Krish added.

Harsha Lingappa says Indian tennis players should get more exposure in the country.

Harsha Linngappa, who runs the HLTA and coaches his wards, says, “Krish Ajay is very talented and has a bright future in tennis. He achieved a lot in just five years and became India No. 1. If he gets more exposure, he will play really well and has the potential. There are very few tennis tournaments in India, so we need to travel abroad to participate in tournaments. Most of the talented players drop out due to financial crisis. There is need to organise more tennis events in India to encourage Indian players. India should encourage sports by recognising talents. If the government encouraged tennis, definitely India will get recognition”.

“Krish has already won three International titles in just three months. This year, we will trying our best to take part in the grand slam tennis and to compete in most big events”, Harsha added.
