KALABURAGI, KOLAR: A 14-year-old boy died of electrocution after he came in contact with a railing on the road divider near the central bus station in the city late on Wednesday evening. The deceased was identified as Kamal Raj, a resident of Basava Nagar.
In CCTV footage, Kamal Raj, along with two other boys, can be seen crossing the road. Kamal Raj was electrocuted when he held the railing on the median while the other two boys can be seen running back. A snapped live wire from an electricity pole erected on the median had come in contact with the iron railing, causing Kamal Raj’s death.
Based on a complaint from the boy’s mother, the Ashok Nagar police have registered an FIR against Kalaburagi city corporation officials and taken up further investigation.
In another incident in Kolar, a pole on which CCTV cameras had been installed near the clock tower, was delivering electric shocks to whoever touched it. Locals immediately informed the power utility officials who cut off power supply and took up repairs.
