BENGALURU: A multi‑level paid parking facility, built at a cost of crores of rupees to put the brakes on the parking problem around Basavanagudi and Gandhi Bazaar, is already witnessing repair work even before its inauguration due to unscientific construction.

The multi‑level parking lot built in Gandhi Bazaar has not even been inaugurated, yet the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has already demolished half the walls and are doing reconstruction.

This is because of the negligence of GBA officials. If proper inspection had been done during construction, this mess would not have happened. Cars cannot go in or out of the parking lot. Without proper space to maneuvre, cars are getting damaged while taking U-turns.

The multi‑level parking has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 25  crore. It has been designed with four levels for parking cars and bikes. The parking lot tender has been awarded to a private company. However, cars coming to park are getting damaged on the curves. Hence, repair work has started even before the inauguration.

“If the work had been done properly during construction, this problem would not have come. Unscientific construction is damaging vehicles”, car owners express their dissatisfaction.
